Council Could Act To Override Decision
Mayor Jim Baca vetoed a resolution Thursday that would direct the city to hold an election allowing about 200 management-level workers to decide whether to unionize.
Councilor Alan Armijo, the resolution's sponsor, predicted City Council will muster the six votes needed to override Baca's veto. The council voted 7-0 on Oct. 16 to approve the measure.
"It seems to me unless there's a good reason for everybody to change their minds that we'll override," Armijo said Thursday.
Councilors will have an opportunity to override the veto on Monday their next regular meeting. …
