Albuquerque's North Valley likes to think of itself as rural; the kind of place for riding or driving a horse and cart. Most of the time, it is. But sheriff's deputies are on the watch for one young man who, for reasons we may never know, has it in for anyone "horsey."

It may have been road rage, but a partially disabled Los Ranchos horsewoman Ann Stevens had done nothing to cause it at about 6:30 p.m. Sept. 14 beside Rio Grande Boulevard. She says a young, blond man in a black Chevy Blazer took it into his head to run her down as she drove her horse and small cart north on the easement west of Rio Grande; one of the few outdoor recreational activities she's able to enjoy. …
