Groups Want Independent Inquiry.(Metropolitan)

Civil rights groups are calling for an independent, bipartisan investigation into government handling of the Wen Ho Lee case and whether the scientist was a target of racial profiling.

Victor Hwang, managing attorney for the San Francisco-based Asian Law Caucus, said the groups are not satisfied with congressional inquiries so far. Hwang and representatives of two other groups wrote to President Clinton this week asking for a more thorough and less political probe.
