Ex-Jailer Pleads Guilty to Sex Charge.(New Mexico)

A former San Juan County jail guard pleaded guilty Wednesday to a sex-related charge involving a female prisoner.

Jesus "Jesse" Monclova of Farmington pleaded guilty minutes before a jury was to be selected for his retrial on a misdemeanor charge of deprivation of civil rights, specifically the right to be free from sexual assault.

Monclova entered his plea before U.S. District Judge C. LeRoy Hansen in Albuquerque and was sentenced to 90 days in prison.

Monclova, 34, Darren Howell, 34, of Aztec, and Darrell Whitaker, 39, of Crouch Mesa were indicted on federal charges after an August 1999 raid on the San Juan County Detention Center. …
