Ex-District 10 Sen. Wants Seat Back.

Both Candidates Say Schools Top Priority

Former state Sen. Janice Paster, a Democrat, asked voters Thursday to put her back in the District 10 seat she lost to incumbent Republican Ramsay L. Gorham in 1996.

During Thursday's candidates' forum at the Alameda Community Center, Paster said she will focus on education as one of her primary issues if she is elected. A top-notch education is a key to financial success and can only be attained if the state invests in schools, Paster said.

"It is the Legislature's job to buckle down and make sure that we invest in our public schools first and foremost," she said. …
