Tensions Ease After Valley High Fight.(Metropolitan)

No additional security measures are being taken at Valley High School, where an assistant principal was assaulted during a fight Wednesday, a school official said.

"It's not as if there are tensions brewing throughout the student body," said Jennifer Dunstan, spokeswoman for Albuquerque Public Schools.

Two female students began fighting around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday near the student activities center after a "miscommunication," Dunstan said.

A group of 20 other students gathered around, Dunstan said, "and one struck a blow to the assistant principal (Bruce Smith) as he was trying to get to the fight to intervene."

An Albuquerque Police Department officer stationed at the school sprayed Mace into the air to disperse the crowd, Dunstan said. …
