Cougars Want Win Going Into District

It has all the trappings of being the game of the year so far in Albuquerque.

But when Cibola (3-1) meets Eldorado (4-0) tonight at Milne Stadium, Cougars' coach Ben Shultz warns of another possibility.

"We better be focused," Shultz said, "or we'll get shellacked."

With an open week ahead, Cibola needs a good performance before beginning its District 1AAAAA schedule on Oct. 12 against West Mesa.

The Cougars were beaten 28-14 last Saturday by Manzano.

"They've come back and worked hard this week," Shultz said. "They know that loss was our lack of effort and Manzano's good effort."

Perhaps the most important matchup tonight pits the Cibola defense against Eldorado's offensive line and bruising running back Sadeke Konte, who has been all but unstoppable so far this season. …
