Benefits of Solar Energy Focus of Fair

Solar energy is not new to New Mexico.

Hundreds of years ago, the Anasazi designed their cliff dwellings to maximize solar gain in winter by building into the cliffs and positioning their buildings so the winter sun could reach their homes.

The sheltering overhang minimized night time heat loss and protected them from cold winds.

To this day, New Mexico continues to be an ideal location for alternative energy, according to the New Mexico Solar Energy Association

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, the association will present a Solar Fiesta, a renewable energy fair, in conjunction with the association's annual conference. …
