* Lawyer says grieving adoptive couple preparing for difficult task of returning child to her birth parents

Letting go of a 6-year-old Guatemalan girl will be difficult for a Valencia County couple who cared for her almost half her life, their attorney said Wednesday.

Also Wednesday, the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service said it will drop its pursuit of the case once the girl is back with her birth parents in Guatemala.

Thirteenth Judicial District Judge John W. Pope late Tuesday voided his earlier order that allowed Don and Rita Naylor to adopt Michell Marion Johana Tobar Perez.

The judge said the biological parents, who said they never gave permission for the adoption, didn't have sufficient notice of the Naylors' intent to adopt the child. …
