Melrose's Sena Is a Star When It Comes to the Six-Man Version of Football

MELROSE To say Jeremy Sena gains a lot of yards as a running back is like saying his girlfriend has a lot of letters in her name.

There's no room for argument.

Sena: 5 games, 57 carries, 728 yards.

Girlfriend: Rheanna Brzozowski Reynoso.

And to say football is serious business in Melrose is like saying New Mexico's eastern plains are flat. There's no disputing either count.

A few hours before dismantling Logan last Friday night, 46-18 in a game in which Sena had 154 rushing yards, 142 passing and 19 receiving, Sena and his girlfriend were practicing for pregame homecoming ceremonies.

Sena was elected homecoming king, but the Logan Longhorns were really the only thing on his mind. "It doesn't make any difference to me, I just want to play football. You have to run for something here; well, they want you to run for something."

Here is Melrose, a town of about 700 with a high school of 140 students located just more than 20 miles west of Clovis. …
