Donations sought for women's fund-raiser.

AROUND NEW MEXICO

New Mexico businesswomen will pound the pavement and retailers' doors in Nob Hill on Monday to collect items for a fund-raiser and to raise awareness of domestic violence.

The silent auction will be held on Nov. 18 during The Montezuma Ball at the Sheraton Old Town Inn.

The Montezuma Ball was held off and on for 60 years from 1902 through the late 1960s. It ended with the demise of the Alvarado Hotel.

Proceeds from the ball will benefit the Albuquerque Women's Resource Center, a nonprofit agency that helps battered women, and the Albuquerque Museum Foundation, which raises funds for the museum. …
