20 High Schools To Compete at Pintos' Rodeo.(Sports)

8 Students Represent Moriarty at Event

The second annual Moriarty High School Rodeo, a sanctioned New Mexico High School Rodeo Association event, will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Moriarty Rodeo Grounds.

More than 20 high schools from all over the state are expected to attend, and as many as 250 student-athletes will compete in 11 rodeo events.

The action gets under way at 10 a.m. Saturday and again at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Admission price is $5 each day and $3 for children ages 5 to 12. Children under 5 will be admitted free.

In its inaugural rodeo last year, Moriarty drew 187 participants.

The rodeo events include calf roping, steer wrestling, bareback riding, saddle-bronc riding, bull riding, team roping, cutting, barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying and breakaway roping. …
