Resident Named Newest Edgewood Councilman.

The Edgewood Town Council's newest member is a familiar face to many people in the area.

Frank Lasky, who most recently served as president of the Edgewood Citizens and Homeowners Organization, was named to fill the council seat being vacated by Howard Calkins. Calkins took over as mayor Saturday after Larry Keaty resigned.

Lasky was appointed by Keaty at the council's regular meeting Sept. 20. The council approved the appointment on a 3-1 vote, with Councilor Bob Stearley voting against it.

"I don't have anything against Frank, but I would have preferred an election," Stearley said.

Lasky will serve about 1 1/2 years of Calkins term. …
