Fumes in Fire Not Identified, Sheriff Says.

State and county officials are investigating the cause of a Sept. 20 house fire north of Moriarty after chemical fumes from the fire sent several fire officials to the hospital.

Firefighters responded to the blaze that started at a trailer in the Sunset Acres subdivision about 1 a.m. At least three investigators who were at the scene later that morning were overcome by chemical fumes and had to be sent to an Albuquerque hospital, said Torrance County Sheriff Pete Golden.

All three were checked out and released the same day, he said.

County fire investigators and sheriff's deputies closed off the area to wait for state fire investigators to determine what kind of chemicals were burned in the fire. …
