State Expands Search for Buyers

The New Mexico government has rejected each of two recent bids for purchase of the old St. Vincent Hospital property in downtown Santa Fe.

The state now will begin a search for potential buyers "in the national or international marketplace," Les Swindle, director of the state General Services Department's Property Control Division, said Wednesday.

Swindle said both of the recent bids were declared nonresponsive to the state's request for proposals. The bidders "put conditions on the sale that were not acceptable," he said.

The two bidders said they could not comply with the state's requirement to finalize purchase of the building within 60 days from the date a bid was accepted. …
