Guatemalan Parents Will Allow Visits.

* Birth mother of 6-year-old girl wants to thank adoptive N.M. family for helping child

The birth mother of a 6-year-old Guatemalan girl said Wednesday her family holds no ill will against a Valencia County couple who adopted her daughter without her permission.

Doris Magali Perez also said in an interview in Spanish that her family would allow the couple to visit the child, Michell Marion Johana Tobar Perez.

"We didn't expect this, but I know that the (adoptive) family did it because they love my daughter," Perez said. "We want to talk to them and give them thanks for what they did for her. We have no animosity towards them."

The comments came one day after 13th Judicial District Judge John W. Pope voided his earlier order that allowed Don and Rita Naylor to adopt Michell.

The judge said the biological parents, who said they never gave permission for the adoption, didn't have sufficient notice of the Naylors' intent to adopt the child. …
