BERNALILLO The premise is simple: Win the games you are favored to win and stay competitive in the games you're not.

Heading into Tuesday's boys prep soccer match against second-ranked La Cueva at the New Mexico Soccer Complex in Bernalillo, underdog Santa Fe did just that. Despite suffering a 3-0 loss, the Demons (2-7-3, 1-1 in District 2AAAAA) achieved their goal by sending a message to the powerful Bears.

It was a message that Santa Fe coach Chris Eadie believes will serve his team well down the road.

"I think they're a team we can beat, but you can't make the mental and physical mistakes we did in the first half if you want to beat them," he said. …
