Parents Want Proposed School Perimeters Changed

Many West Side parents said Tuesday they fear that proposed boundary changes for two new schools will disrupt their children's education and social lives.

Only a few parents said they agree with the Albuquerque Public Schools' proposal because it would not affect where their children go to school.

APS plans to open a middle school in Paradise Hills and an elementary school in the nearby Seven Bar subdivision.

The elementary school is expected to open next year with 689 students, shrinking Sierra Vista Elementary to 549 from 965 and Petroglyph to 601 from 874 this year. …
