Tijeras Asked To Rethink Traffic Light.


The New Mexico Highway and Transportation Department has asked Tijeras to reconsider its position regarding traffic lights at the village's main intersection.

In August, the village council voted not to pay electric or maintenance costs for the lights, which are located at N.M. 337 and old Route 66.

Electricity and maintenance costs are an estimated $10,000 per year and the council said it cannot afford the expense. …
