Estancia Schools To Decide About Notices

The Estancia Municipal School District plans to develop a policy defining its responsibility to notify parents about convicted sex offenders living in the area.

In February, Gov. Gary Johnson signed a bill into law that strengthened New Mexico's Megan's Law. The new law allows the state Department of Public Safety to provide an Internet site listing names, addresses and previous convictions of convicted sex offenders. The Web site address is
