Training Issues Lead To Disagreements

A dispute has arisen over training for animal control officers that animal welfare activist Marcy Britton agreed to provide at no cost to Valencia County.

Britton's attorney, Lar Thomas, said the county has not responded to a written proposal for training he submitted at Commission Chairwoman Alicia Aguilar's request.

Instead, the county paid for a euthanasia course for four of its officers and sent Britton a canceled check for about $700, asking Britton if she would like to reimburse the county.

Thomas said Britton paid for the training, but the county then approved sending its animal control director for animal handling and cruelty investigations training and again asked Britton to reimburse the county. …
