If the city Planning Policy Commission has anything to do with it, Santa Fe won't grow any faster than its high desert water supply.

After three hours of conversation Wednesday night most stalled over fears that limiting growth would kill the economy the commission voted unanimously to pass five recommendations onto the City Council. Each one outlines ways to conserve water, find new water sources and limit the amount of water Santa Feans use.

The commission doesn't make policy, just recommendations, said chairwoman Karen Walker, so none of the group's decisions are binding. …
