New Fields Were Simple Decision.(Opinion)


At least as it related to water use, last week's brouhaha over Santa Fe's grassy new rugby fields was much ado about nothing.It's a fact that the city and the rest of us are suffering restrictions on water use and a ban on new planting.

But we don't see a problem with new planting when it's watered by sewage effluent, as the rugby fields are. Better to go ahead and finish the $400,000, state-funded project.

But city officials couldn't have handled the situation any worse. They left the impression that the city was trying to sneak the rugby field planting past residents that by city law can't put any new plants in the ground these days. …
