New Mexico artisans, homes, landscapes and lifestyles will be highlighted in more than a dozen new shows on the Home & Garden Television channel.

The "Modern Masters" series, for instance, provides an inside look at the techniques of America's master craftsmen and craftswomen.

Among those featured will be Santa Fe woodworker Michael Snow Jones, who creates Mayan temple-shaped furniture with a hint of mystery and intrigue. In an episode to air Oct. 23 at 8:30 p.m., Jones is scheduled to be shown making an intricate hidden drawer handle.

"The pyramidal works are inspired by the pyramids in Central America," he said during a recent conversation. "They were altars, or places to connect people to unseen worlds, spiritual worlds. …
