Santa Fe show to spotlight modern Africa fashions.

Authentic wearable fashions from Africa, including indigo-dyed fabric and wax batik designs, will be on display Saturday at Black Art Studio's African Artwear Fashion Show in Santa Fe.

The style show will spotlight modern fashions from Africa, said Victoria Scott of the Black Art Studio. It will benefit the Santa Fe NAACP.

"Every few years Africa becomes fashionable, but usually we see giraffes and zebras and pith helmets," said Scott. "This is authentic African fashion, but at the same time its very contemporary, very modern. We're really breaking some new ground here."

Pieces in the show will include classic men's dress shirts made from African Guinea brocade, brought back by Santa Fe resident Cecelia Tadfor-Little from her native Cameroon. …
