Fighting the wind and rain at Jaguar Stadium, the Los Alamos boys soccer team held off Capital 4-0 Thursday afternoon in the District 2AAAA opener for both teams.

Los Alamos got all four of its goals in the final 12 minutes of the first half as Jamie Dabney led the way with a pair of scores to lead the Hilltoppers (8-3, 1-0).

"It always feels good to get that first district win under your belt," said Los Alamos coach Ann Cernicek. "It starts a team's march to the state championships in a nice way. I'm just glad we were able to keep things together in the second half."

Fighting against the wind in the first half, Capital managed just three shots in goal. …
