Schools Put End To Special Bonus.

Santa Fe Public Schools put an end Tuesday to the practice of giving executive secretaries what was known as a confidentiality bonus on top of their salaries.

Over the past nine years, Krisha Leyba worked her way up from student aide in the superintendent's office to school board administrative assistant to her latest position as Superintendent Veronica C. Garcia's executive secretary.

"When I first started in the district, it wasn't called a confidential responsibility," she said.

Instead, she received a regular paycheck in addition to a bonus because she has more responsibility and more service days than other secretaries. …
