Demons-Horsemen rivalry touches nearly everyone in the city

They have been best friends since grade school, but when Jeremy Templeman and Mike Padilla cross paths on the gridiron tonight at Ivan Head Stadium, all bets are off.

Templeman, a standout linebacker and wing back for the Horsemen, and Padilla, the Demons' star running back and defensive free safety, will go head-to-head in a microcosm of the rivalry between the two Santa Fe schools.

"What I'd really like to have happen is for him get out in the open and both of us to go one-on-one," says Templeman, a bruising defensive standout on a Horsemen squad that has surrendered just 17 points in its first four games this season. "It's going to be hard to hold back if I get a shot at him, but if I do lay him out I'd help him right back up because that's pretty much the way it's been the whole time we've known each other. We've always been competitive in everything we do, but it never gets to the point where we want to hurt each other."

With that in mind, those fans in attendance tonight should keep an eye on the two when the Santa Fe offense takes the field. …
