Confidence Grows With 2 Straight Wins

All things considered, the University of New Mexico football team is in pretty good shape as it enters Mountain West Conference play this week against Wyoming.

UNM (2-3) is on its first two-game winning streak since coach Rocky Long's first two games with the program in 1998.

The three teams that beat the Lobos this season have a combined 10-1 record. The Lobos defeated their intrastate rival. They stared adversity in the face the last two weeks without blinking.

"What we have shown in the last two weeks is that even when adversity shows, we're hanging in there and finding a way to make enough plays to be in the game and win the game," Long said Sunday, a day after the Lobos' 35-28 home win over Northern Arizona. …
