Host Dons To Meet Jaguars In Title Game.(Sports)

* West Las Vegas beats Portales, Capital knocks out Robertson in Stu Clark tournament

LAS VEGAS Day two of the 47th annual Stu Clark Basketball Tournament proved to be the same old same old for defending champion Capital while it was a taste of something new for West Las Vegas.

As usual, the Jaguars struggled throughout much of Friday's semifinal showdown against tournament co-host Robertson, yet still had enough left in the tank to pull out a 79-61 win. The West Las Vegas Dons finally learned what it was like to lead almost an entire game, routing Portales in the other semifinal.

All said, it sets up today's title game between the Jaguars (6-1) and West Las Vegas (10-0) at 7:30 p.m.

Robertson will meet Portales in the consolation game at 6.

CAPITAL 79, LAS VEGAS ROBERTSON 61: Behind a season-high 21 points from junior point guard Manny Hernandez and critical minutes from the players on the bench, the Jaguars turned a 35-33 halftime deficit into a 57-37 lead with under a minute to play in the third quarter.

But getting there was half the work. The Jaguars committed six turnovers and missed 12 free throws in the first half. …
