UNM Hasn't Reacted Very Well to Change

PORTLAND, Ore. The University of New Mexico and Portland State are two women's basketball teams desperate for a victory.

UNM (8-5) Thursday night in Corvallis blew a 12-point halftime lead in losing to Oregon State (7-2) 75-64 a game the Lobos wanted to use to legitimize themselves as a Mountain West Conference contender. Instead, they left Gill Coliseum frustrated.

The Vikings (1-10) have played numerous close games, such as losing by only 10 to Oregon State and by three to San Diego State, and are looking to get over the hump.

"I don't want this to be their breakout game," Lobos coach Don Flanagan says of tonight's game at Strott Center. The game is scheduled for 8 p. …
