Solvent-Incident Teacher Identified.

Instructor Missed Two Days Last Week

A Pecos Middle School teacher who was in charge of a classroom where students became ill after breathing solvent fumes Dec. 12 did not show up for class for two consecutive days last week, according to school officials.

Pecos Independent Schools Superintendent Harrell Holder said Wednesday he is unsure whether the sixth-grade literature teacher will return when classes resume Jan. 8 after winter break.

Also Wednesday, Holder, for the first time, identified the teacher involved in the solvent incident as Robert Baca.

"He wasn't in class the last two days of last week," Holder said. …
