Students Fare Well on Competency Tests.

Most Estancia High School sophomores passed the reading section of the New Mexico High School Competency Examination on their first attempt in the 1999-2000 school year, according to a district accountability report.

Each year, school districts statewide are required to submit an accountability report to the state.

The Estancia Municipal Schools Accountability Report, which was released last week, contains data on test scores, attendance and parents' responses to the Quality of Education Survey for the 1999-2000 school year.

Overall, Estancia sophomores fared well on the high school competency exam, a test New Mexico students must pass in order to graduate. …
