Service Cutbacks Ambulance Firm Seeks Reduction.

Rural Torrance County residents could have one less ambulance on duty but pay higher rates for ambulance services.

A representative from Mednet Ambulance Service asked the County Commission at its regular meeting Dec. 20 to consider allowing the company to take one of its full-time ambulances off duty and allow the company to seek a tariff increase through the state Public Regulation Commission.

Mednet is the primary ambulance service provider for unincorporated Torrance County. For four years, the company usually had one ambulance on call seven days a week, 24 hours a day. In April it put another full-time ambulance on duty. …
