Tome Decision Distributed $4.7 Million From Sale

Heirs of the Tome Land Grant want a judge to tell them how he decided who were rightful heirs to the land grant and how $4.7 million from the 1968 sale of the 47,000-acre land grant was distributed.

"We've got some questions and we'd like to have some answers. We think it's only fair," said Lawrence Sanchez, part of a committee made up of heirs looking into the circumstances of the 1968 sale to Horizon Corp.

In a related effort, the heirs are also seeking the return of about 100,000 acres on the west face of the Manzano Mountains they contend rightfully belongs to them. That land was not part of the sale to Horizon.
