Look for thought-provoking subjects maybe even some startling ideas to open New Mexico Trout's 2001 Conclave in January.

In his keynote address, full-time fishing guide Taylor Streit of Taos will likely focus on some controversial issues like protecting the Red River from harmful seepage out of mining operations near Questa, the need for special regulations on the Red River to protect fall runs of spawning browns and the need for a fish barrier on Comanche Creek.

Streit can be bluntly critical, but his ideas are based on 20 years of guiding fly-fishers in New Mexico. Streit was well-chosen to get early arrivals thinking of trout and ready for active participation in the day's events. …
