West Side Sam's Club Gives Groups $21,500.(Community)

Grants Help Schools, Pueblos, Food Banks

The Sam's Club on Albuquerque's West Side has given out $21,500 in grants to several metropolitan-area groups, including some in Rio Rancho, Bernalillo and several area Indian pueblos.

Sigrid Morton, the community involvement coordinator for the two Sam's Clubs in Albuquerque, said she tried to reach as many of the communities on the West Side and north of Albuquerque as possible.

"I went out to as many people as I could," Morton said. "We're really interested as a company in helping people."

The largest grant given out by the store at 4703 Westside NW was $5,000 to People Living through Cancer, a cancer support and information organization in Albuquerque. …
