County Produces Most Apples in New Mexico

Sandoval County has a proud agricultural heritage.

Buried under the blanket of Christmas snow are 353 farms producing everything from fruit to corn to chile to hay and alfalfa. Many kinds of livestock roam fields dotted along the landscape.

The county ranks 29th out of 33 counties in overall agricultural production. The highest ranking county was Chaves, with $335 million in cash receipts for all farm commodities.
