A Dose Of Winter Weather

Government Workers Stayed Home Tuesday

Constant snowfall through much of Tuesday in New Mexico's capital created road hazards, canceled a pair of flights out of the city airport and gave 14,500 government workers another day of Christmas vacation.

Workers for the state, Santa Fe County and the city of Santa Fe, as well as the courts in Santa Fe, were told to stay home Tuesday rather than brave the snow-caked roads. The city received 4 to 6 inches, the National Weather Service reported, while rural areas in the south and east were hit harder.

"The way it's coming down, it's pretty crazy," Santa Fe County Manager Sam Montoya said following the closing of government offices. …
