The University of New Mexico football program has an identity crisis, head coach Rocky Long says.

Sure, wide receivers coach Gerald Bradley says recruits in Los Angeles still have problems distinguishing UNM from New Mexico State.

Long, however, says the Lobos crisis comes from within the state.

"In the state of New Mexico, when a young man gets recruited by a quote 'big-name' school, there's a lot of pressure from people in state to push those kids out of state," Long says, "that they ought to play someplace else, which is a little bit different than any place I've ever coached. That has been unique to our recruiting battles here. …
