N.M. SNOW DAY.(New Mexico)

A snowstorm that started in parts of the state on Christmas continued with a vengeance Tuesday across much of New Mexico.

Most roads around Roswell were closed. Albuquerque got 7 inches of snow in some spots, while the town of Mineral Hills in northeastern New Mexico received about 20 inches of snow by Tuesday evening.

"This could be 12 to 18 hours of snow in some places," National Weather Service meteorologist Curt Vanspeybroeck said.

Vanspeybroeck said the storm would be especially heavy in the Sacramento, Capitan and Guadalupe mountains of south-central and southern New Mexico.

Weather service forecasters in Albuquerque said they expected the Christmas storm to lose steam by tonight. …
