Powerball Has Little Impact On Christmas.

There weren't any Ferraris or mansions wrapped up in Christmas ribbons Monday for the 14 New Mexico Powerball winners.

Charles Tabet of Belen, spokesman for the Sandia National Laboratories security officers who won the $131 million prize, said he hasn't heard of any spending sprees by his co-winners. After all, he said, they haven't yet seen a dime of their winnings.

"Everybody is kind of holding off and waiting until we can finalize everything," Tabet said Monday in a telephone interview. "Of course, people are more than willing to lend you money if you know you are going to get some."

The Nov. 29 Powerball jackpot, won on a ticket purchased from a Circle K store on San Pedro SE, is worth an estimated $131 million if the winners take the money as equal payments over a 25-year period. …
