In yet another case of science laboring to prove the obvious, a new study demonstrates that playing golf is healthier than doing nothing.

Finnish researchers reporting in the American Journal of Medicine found dramatic improvements in an array of health measures in middle-aged men who abandoned the safety of their living rooms to play an average of 2.5 rounds of golf a week for 20 weeks.

The 55 golfers, who had been largely sedentary for seven months prior to the study, were compared with a group with like habits whose members were required to stay inactive except for normal household activities such as gardening and repairs. …
