Defendant Denied Retaliation Plan

A state District Court jury on Friday acquitted former Bernalillo County sheriff's deputy Michael Lee Disney of threatening the federal agent who sent him to prison on drug charges.

Disney, 33, could have gotten nine years in prison if convicted of the single count of retaliating against Special Agent Mike Marshall of the Drug Enforcement Administration.

But the jury of eight men and four women, who began their deliberations late Thursday, took a little less than four hours overall to find Disney not guilty of the charge.

Disney, who was a sheriff's deputy from 1985 to 1990, served several months in federal prison following a 1996 narcotics conviction. …
