APS Less Specific in New Dropout Report.

Albuquerque Public Schools dramatically changed the way it reported dropout information to the state this year, making comparisons to previous years difficult.

In the state-required "School District Report Card," APS provides data on test scores, attendance, dropouts, community involvement and school safety. Most sections of the report are similar to previous years, but the dropout section has been revised.

Board of Education President Aggie Lopez said she believes the changes were made to confuse the public and improve the district's image. She also questioned the accuracy of some of the numbers, saying they seemed too low. …
