Staley Leads Her Owls Into the Pit.(Sports)

The University of New Mexico women's basketball team will face one of the best players in the world tonight when they play host to the rejuvenated Temple Owls in the second game of the Clubhouse Inn-vitational.

Fortunately, Dawn Staley won't be in uniform. Instead, Staley a former All-American at Virginia, a member of the United States gold-medal 1996 Olympic team and still a player with the Charlotte Sting of the WNBA is the first-year coach of the Owls (5-1).

Unfortunately, one Lobo also won't be in uniform. Starting senior post Jennifer Williams, who has averaged 11 points and 9.5 rebounds in the last two games for UNM (6-4), will be in her home state of Washington to attend the funeral of her grandfather.

Williams' spot in the starting lineup will be taken by senior Miranda Sanchez, who after a slow start has come on to average 10. …
