Ballou Led Way For Other Blacks.(Metropolitan)(Obituary)

Frank Ballou, from a New Mexico pioneer family, helped open doors for other blacks in acquiring railroad desk jobs.

Also well-known for his food catering work in the Albuquerque area, Ballou died Dec. 11 from complications following heart surgery in Bradenton, Fla. He was 81.

Funeral services were Friday in Bradenton. A memorial service will be held in Albuquerque at 4 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Apostolic Temple, 215 53rd SW. The family will receive friends after the service.

Ballou was 17 when he took a job with the Santa Fe & Topeka Railroad as an attendant, waiting on passengers. …
