Pueblo labor case gets a rehearing.

* Tribe and federal board argue right-to-work rules

The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver has granted a rehearing in a case involving San Juan Pueblo tribal sovereignty on a right-to-work issue, a pueblo attorney said Wednesday.

The court earlier this fall upheld a 1998 federal district court decision supporting the tribe when it passed a law four years ago that said employees of businesses working on pueblo land could not be forced to pay union dues.

Federal law under the National Labor Relations Act generally holds that if an employer has an agreement with a union, workers may not be forced to join the union but have to pay dues. …
