Seniors Mobilize To Address Transport Issues.

Torrance County gets about $387,000 in state and federal grants each year to provide services for the county's senior residents.

But some of those seniors don't feel the county is using the money to help them. Seniors complain about being unable to get meals delivered or about van drivers who are unwilling to pick up people if they live off main roads.

"We do what we can to help out our neighbors, but the county has a responsibility, too," said Illa McCaslin, a senior from McIntosh.

McCaslin and about 20 other seniors from throughout Torrance County have formed a coalition to ensure services are provided fairly and equally to all county seniors. …
