Ceramic sculptor Julianne Harvey blends surrealism, conventional pottery forms and art historical imagery with a touch of magic in her classically inspired porcelains.

"My work mostly deals with oppositions. I have a strong affinity for dreams while part of my personality is drawn to reality-based images. Greek myths and household chores, evolution and transformations of consciousness appear in the same piece. I'm always balancing opposing forces and conflicting ideas in my work," Harvey said during a recent studio visit.

The combination of painstaking craftsmanship and her brand of fantasy have brought recognition and success to the artist. …
